Uttarkashi — literally "Kashi of the North" — is a sacred Himalayan city where the River Bhagirathi (source of the Ganga) flows between mountain walls. This is one of the oldest continuous yoga and Vedanta study sites in the Himalayas.
At 1158 metres above sea level, the air is measurably cleaner and thinner. Pranayama at altitude develops lung capacity faster. The cool temperatures (15–22°C in summer) allow for longer, more intense morning practice. The mountain stillness before dawn is unlike anything achievable at sea level.
All levels welcome. Classical Hatha, pranayama, meditation, philosophy. Ideal for beginners seeking an authentic Himalayan yoga experience.
Yoga Alliance RYS 200 certification. Complete teacher training in the Himalayan tradition. Advanced pranayama practice at altitude.
