When Should You Come to Rishikesh for Yoga?
Rishikesh is a year-round destination — but every season has a different energy, climate, and experience. Whether you are planning a 200-hour yoga teacher training or a short retreat, choosing the right time can make a significant difference to your practice and overall experience.
Here is an honest, month-by-month guide to help you plan your visit.
October to March — Peak Season (Best for Most People)
This is the golden window for yoga teacher training in Rishikesh. The weather is cool and crisp, the air is clear, and the mountains are visible in all their glory. International students from Europe, USA, Australia, and Canada prefer this season.
- October–November: Post-monsoon freshness. Ganga is full and clean. Temperatures: 15–28°C. Perfect for morning practice outdoors.
- December–January: Cold mornings (5–10°C), beautiful sunny afternoons. Ideal for intensive indoor practice and philosophy study. Christmas and New Year bring international visitors.
- February–March: Spring begins. The Himalayas are snow-capped. Flowers bloom along the Ganga. International Yoga Festival (March) draws masters from around the world.
April to June — Uttarkashi Season (Shoulder Season)
This is when our programs move to Tapasalayam, Uttarkashi — 150km deeper into the Himalayas. Rishikesh gets hot (35–42°C), but Uttarkashi remains perfectly cool at 1165 metres altitude.
- April–May: Pilgrimage season — Char Dham Yatra begins. Rishikesh is busy with devotees. Ideal time for our Uttarkashi mountain programs.
- June: Last month before monsoon. Still comfortable in Uttarkashi. Rishikesh is hot and humid.
July to September — Monsoon Season
The Ganga swells dramatically. Rishikesh receives heavy rainfall. Some schools close during peak monsoon weeks. August yoga teacher training still happens — the greenery is extraordinary and crowds are minimal.
- July–August: Lush green Himalayas. Powerful Ganga. Lower prices. Fewer tourists. Still excellent for committed students who do not mind rain.
- September: Monsoon recedes. The land is washed clean. One of the most spiritually powerful times to be in Rishikesh.
